There you can charge your electric bike, rest indoors and plan a new route. VVV Zeeland had a 32″ PCAP touchscreen put in the pick-up point. In it, hikers and cyclists can map out routes. "The screen also gives handy tips," explains Jeroen Woudenberg of VVV Zeeland. "Because it is connected to the Internet, it thinks. So if it's raining hard it won't advise you to go for a walk on the beach, but will look for an indoor activity nearby." In total, there will be 10 bicycle pick-up points in Zeeland.
A sustainable charging station
VVV Zeeland, the Province, developer Ecotap and Prestop have worked on the boarding point for a year and a half. It is made with technology also used in electric cars and charging stations, and is sustainable: the solar panels on the roof make it self-sufficient.
