Dutch Open Air Museum unveils new interactive outdoor totems by Prestop
The Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem recently introduced two custom-made Prestop outdoor totems. Equipped with Omnitapps software, these new interactive totems offer a unique and engaging experience for visitors.
Customized interactive totems
Whereas taller totems were previously used, the museum has now opted for two lower variants. These totems were specially customized by Prestop, allowing the museum to fully choose the color of their liking. In fact, Prestop can apply any RAL color, even to a stainless steel column like this one. This means that the totems fit perfectly within the museum's look and feel.
Optimal screen visibility
The new totems have a 22-inch touchscreen with high brightness and optical binding. This technology ensures the screen is always bright and clearly visible, even in bright sunlight. In addition, the optical binding prevents dust or water from getting between the screen and the housing, significantly extending the life of the totems. The totems also feature a built-in light sensor. This sensor automatically adjusts the brightness based on environmental conditions, making them user-friendly and very durable.
Weatherproof and robust kiosk
Another important feature of the outdoor totems is their rugged construction. They can withstand various weather conditions and feature components such as heating, ventilation, and a thermostat/hygrostat. These ensure that the climate inside the totems always remains optimal regardless of the weather, which is critical to the longevity of the electronic components.
Annual maintenance for optimal performance
Prestop takes the maintenance of the totems seriously and will perform annual inspections for the next three years. During these maintenance checks, the totems will be thoroughly cleaned both inside and out. The built-in PC and ventilation filters are also cleaned and replaced when necessary. This ensures that the totems always continue to function optimally.
A unique Omnitapps experience for visitors
Developed by Omnitapps specialist Bram Aarts, the presentation on the interactive totems offers a visually appealing and user-friendly interface. Each theme has its video, such as about yeshivas or the famous designer Gerrit Rietveld. These videos attract visitors' attention and make the exhibitions even more interactive.
