Viewing tube

After Prestop first made three video kiosks that were set up outside in Nijmegen, Prestop has again delivered a nice piece of custom work. This time we were commissioned by Wennekes Multimedia to make a "viewing tube" that is integrated in the passageway of a parking garage. By pressing a button the user activates a video that is played on a 42" portrait LCD screen. However, to his/her senses, the user is watching a moving image which is taking place in the distance and it seems as if they are looking at a piece of the past.

The challenge in this project that this outdoor box not only had to be vandal proof but also had to be approved by the residents committee, municipality and of course the client. The viewing box was designed by Prestop, manufactured and finally installed by its own installation service. A maintenance contract was signed for maintenance and management of the viewing tube so that any malfunction would be resolved within 24 hours.
